A thoughtful apology as a poem

Written by Cheryl Dixon

Allow my mouth forgiveness

For tumbling out false speech

You took it all so gently

You didn’t hesitate to teach

Training the tongue is such an art

It tends to spit out noxious noise

Yet you kindly put me back in my place

by responding with grace and poise

Words were released with careless toss

You gently held back your reproach

And simple the Holy Spirit stepped in

To work on my heart and coach

Teasing and sarcasm can be fun

But not if they are words that attack

Forgive me for using a careless tongue

And allow me to take some words back
